The FM Companion Development
Programme allows developers to take advantage of the
open platform architecture of our products. In addition,
FM Companion Product developers can leverage their developments
off the VDO world-wide distribution network, simply
by writing, developing or adapting new or existing solutions
to operate with the VDO FM 2002 Professional software
or the VDO FM 200 Plus hardware.
The VDO Fleet Manager Extension
Software Developers Kit (SDK) is a collection of documents,
tutorials and software tools that allow third party
developers to create extensions to the VDO Fleet Manager
2002 software program.
The Extension Manager SDK includes the Data Pro Language
Manager SDK, which is a collection of tools used for
providing multilingual support in your applications.
It comprises a Language Editor utility for creating
and maintaining language sets, a Language Translator
utility for translating language files and a Language
Manager ActiveX/COM component used by your application
to retrieve strings from the language files.
Extensions have access to the many methods and properties
of the Extension Manager enabling them to
- Add menu items.
- Add toolbar buttons.
- Add UI elements such
as forms, dialogs etc.
- Add per object property
pages (to extend the properties of standard
Fleet Manager Objects such as drivers, vehicles,
sites etc).
- Invoke the standard
Report Criteria Wizard and Progress dialogs
- Add a More Options dialog
to the final step of the Criteria Wizard.
- Gain access to Fleet
Manager static object data such as vehicles,
drivers, passengers, sites etc.
- Gain access to other
Fleet Manager data such as trip and event data,
GPS data etc.
- Store proprietary data
in the Fleet Manager database.
- Leverage off the Fleet
Manager 3-tier client/server architecture to
support multi-user environments.
- Leverage off the Fleet
Manager Upgrade+ program to manage licensing.
